Kombucha Status!

I haven't posted in a while because I have been out of town, but be assured that some massive, photo-heavy posts are on their way! (Well, not that massive...but I do have a lot of fun pictures from the trip regarding vacation eating and farmers' markets!)

In the interim, here is your update on GT's kombucha, straight from the manufacturer. Thanks to my sister Jess for her sleuthing:

Hello Jessica,

Thank you for your email. :)

As you may know, we are investigating reports of the potential for slightly elevated alcohol levels in our Kombucha products that may be occurring after the product has been bottled and has left our facility. Although our products are tested to be compliant at the time of shipping, a subsequent increase in alcohol levels could potentially cause the product to go above 0.5% causing potential labeling issues.

We are working quickly to have product back on the shelves of every store as soon as possible. Please keep in mind that this is not related to any type of food contamination, is not a recall, and you can still find our products at certain retailers.

Our mission to produce the most potent and best tasting Kombucha on the market remains unchanged. Therefore we won’t be considering pasteurization or any other methods that will make the product less effective. You have our commitment that we will not cut corners or rush things just to get product back on the shelves. Like everything we do, we’re in this for the long run. We currently do not have a definitive date for when our products will return to the shelves, we expect to resume shipping in weeks instead of months.

In the meantime you can check the store locator featured on our website (GTSkombucha.com) for further information on retailer options in your area. We suggest you call ahead to make sure they still have product available. We have temporarily suspended production and distribution and as a small company with limited resources are unable to ship online, or directly except to stores in the Los Angeles area.
If you do not see us back on shelves by July's end drop us a line and we'll update you. :)

We apologize for the inconvenience of this matter and greatly appreciate your patience and support while we resolve it.

Peace & blessings,

Adam Dave

Let's hope they're right and our friend Lindsay Lohan hasn't ruined it for us all! :)
